Post to Twitter from the Content Studio

Post to Twitter and your stream in three simple steps:

Step 1 - Connect a Twitter Account

In order to enable Publish & Tweet, you'll need to first connect your Twitter account to the Rich Text Editor (RTE).

  • Click the Twitter icon at the bottom of the RTE.
  • Once prompted, agree to Twitter's Terms of Service.
  • Log in to Twitter and authenticate your account.

Which account is linked?

Click the Twitter icon to see which account has already been linked. This must be the same Twitter account connected to other areas of the platform - for example in the Search Content hub.

You can only have one Twitter account linked at a time.

Step  2 - Turn the feature ON

Once a Twitter account has been linked, you'll be able to turn the Publish & Tweet feature ON or OFF using the toggle. When the feature is ON, you'll notice the following changes:

  • The Publish button will say Publish & Tweet (disabled until text has been entered).
  • A character counter will appear, which reflects Twitter's character count rules. If you enter more than 140 characters, the Publish & Tweet button will be disabled.

With Publish + Tweet ON, you will not be able to....

 - Use the direct upload button to upload video or audio directly to stream
 - Schedule the post
 - Add a social media post from the Discovery Hub or Mod Hub
 - Create a slideshow from within the RTE

Step  3 - Publish & Tweet

When you publish using the Publish & Tweet button, the post will appear in your stream as well as on your Twitter feed!

Post to Twitter from the Original Writer's Interface

Step 1 - Connect Your Twitter Account

To connect your Twitter account and enable the Tweet + Post function:

1. From within the Standard writer's interface, click the Twitter bird logo, located below the content editor to prompt the Twitter login window.

ii. Enter your Twitter login credentials to connect your Twitter account to your stream.

When your Twitter account has successfully been connected to your stream, the Twitter bird logo will change to blue, and the Tweet + Post function will be OFF by default. Turn this feature on or off as you go to selectively Tweet posts made to your ScribbleLive stream.

Use the Quick Tab!

The Tweet+Post function only applies to posts made in the content editor with Quick tab selected. Posts made with the Advanced tab do not enable you to simultaneously Tweet posts made to your stream by design. (i.e., the Advanced tab allows you more formatting options which cannot be carried over to your Tweet.)

Step 2 - Publish a ScribbleLive Post Simultaneously to Your Twitter Feed

To simultaneously Tweet posts published to your stream:

  1. Move the slider below the content editor to the ON position to enable the Tweet + Post function.
  2. Type your content into the content editor and click the Save Post + Tweet button, or hit ‘Enter’ on your keyboard to simultaneously Tweet a post published to your ScribbleLive stream.

Note: As you type, a character counter is displayed in the bottom-right corner of the content editor to ensure posts also made to Twitter do not exceed Twitter’s 140 character limit.

If you no longer wish to publish posts made to your ScribbleLive stream to your Twitter feed, move the slider to OFF

Disconnect Your Twitter Account

To disconnect your Twitter account and disable the Tweet + Post function:

  1. Go to your stream’s Write page.
  2. Click the Twitter bird logo, located below the content editor to open the drop-down box. The drop-down box will feature the Twitter handle your stream is presently connected to.
  3. Click on the green checkmark to de-select your Twitter handle and disconnect your Twitter account from the stream. Confirm your preference when prompted.

Add a Linkback to Your Stream

Important: This option is only available in the Original (Standard) Writer's Interface.

When the Tweet + Post function is enabled, posts published to your stream will also appear in your Twitter feed. Enabling the linkback feature allows these Tweets to display a short URL linking back to your stream.

To enable an auto-generated linkback URL in a Tweet that link’s back to your stream:

  1. Go to your My Profile page, by clicking on your avatar in the top-right corner of any page, and then on My Profile in the drop-down menu.
  2. In the Connect To Social Network column, locate the Manage Social Network Sessions heading.
  3. Move the Always add linkback when tweeting slider to Yes to include a linkback when using the Tweet + Post
Note: Including a linkback URL to a post that is simultaneously Tweeted to your Twitter feed, may cause a 2-minute delay for the linkback to successful direct to your stream.
